Keeping Busy in Quarantine

Rameen Ali

Never in our lives, had we imagined a time like this. Where we had to stay inside and couldn’t go outdoors due to a virus spreading from country to country affecting millions of people which sadly has resulted in many deaths. Nor had we imagined having to take lots of precautionary measures in order to protect our lives and our health.

Since COVID-19 people all around the world have been Quarantined and haven’t left their house in weeks or months. This can become very difficult, boring and unmotivating. There are many things you can do during this time. You hear the word “quarantine” and automatically hear the long list of things we’re not allowed to do these days. But perhaps you should think of all the opportunities this slower lifestyle offers.

List of things you can do in Quarantine:

Art - Channel your feelings by doing something creative. Painting is a great way to express yourself, learn a new skill, and help you see ordinary things (like everything in your house you’ve been staring at for weeks) in a whole new way.

Exercise - This is something you should take advantage of daily as exercise and sunshine are two of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health. Nature is one of the wonderful things that will never be cancelled, and you can easily search up a video on YouTube and exercise outdoors in order to experience both at once.

Cooking & Baking - home cooking and baking also function as a way to pass the hours and feel productive, a form of entertainment, make yourself and your quarantine buddies a delicious treat—plus get a feel-good boost from accomplishing something fun. When many other activities — movie theaters, museums, concerts, are closed or canceled. Even though you're staying at home, you don't need to get stuck in a cooking rut! Switch it up by trying creative meal ideas.

DIY projects – Pinterest can keep you entertained for ages with its aesthetically pleasing pictures and ways to be creative. While some might require stuff you don’t have on hand, you might find supplies after you organize that overflowing closet. You can find a project for anyone, if you want to get creative or organizing to keeping busy.

Calling or Having a video chat – Social distancing can become hard while we are missing our friends and family, it doesn’t mean you can talk to them. You can still face time them through one of the many apps and stay connected and update each other about your new everyday life.

Hopefully, COVID – 19 will pass over quickly and we all will soon be out of our houses going back to school, shopping etc. While there is a pandemic take advantage of it and become your best self and enjoy by learning new things.
